High-tech door for pets

Country residents and townspeople know very well that cats who like to “walk by themselves”, and dogs living in the house, can ask several times a day to go outside. In order not to run and open the entrance door every time, a hole with a flap through which the animal can exit and enter the house is made in it. Such systems are suitable only for a warm climate. In addition, there is an open question of the security of such an “opener”, because, in addition to a pet, other animals or intruders may enter the house.

Therefore, the usual doors are replaced by automatic ones that open only when your cat or dog approaches. And although many such systems are on the market, Austrian engineers decided to do another – an “advanced” version of the automatic door.

In addition to the ease of use of the system, the developers paid attention to energy efficiency and safety.

The door, which somehow resembles the door to the safe, is well insulated and soundproofed, which is especially important for owners of energy-efficient cottages.

To operate the opening mechanism, the door is equipped with a servo-motor with a motor that tightly draws the leaf to the “box”. All mechanics are controlled by a special electronic unit.

Several types of “windows in the world” are available for selection, the dimensions of which depend on the breed of the animal and its size.

The door can be built in the front door, cut into the wall or installed in a double-glazed unit.

In this case, complete tightness, increased heat efficiency and noise insulation are guaranteed.

The system operates as follows: the animal is pre-chipped. When a cat or dog approaches the door, it opens, releasing the pet outwards. Walking, the animal returns, the system reads the data from the chip and, having determined that it’s “its”, opens the door, letting it in.

Therefore, ordinary street cats or dogs can not enter the house.
The servo is configured in such a way that the door does not close until the animal enters the house. Also, through the door to the room can not get intruders, and the control system can be combined with common house alarms. If an attempt is made to break into the door, an alarm is sent to the security panel.

The system is additionally equipped with a remote control, soft illumination for night work, a timer with which you can program its opening for a certain period of time.

In addition, the door is equipped with a “rain sensor”, due to which the pet can not go out in bad weather.

The choice of the user provides several options for coloring the door: for wood, brick, plaster, etc. Optionally, you can order your version of coloring and texturing the door.

Smart House

We evolve misconceptions about automation systems of living space

What is the purpose of the “Smart House” system?

Thinking about installing an intelligent system, you need to understand the difference between “Smart Home” and conventional automation. Habitual electronic automatics, as a rule, supervise the work of a separately taken independent system and possess a limited number of functions. For example, if the temperature in the room falls to certain values, the automation may turn on the heating boiler, but will not make the system work according to a certain scenario:

  • Manage the entire infrastructure of the house remotely from the smartphone, including voice with the help of Siri and other voice assistants;
  • Automatically save heat or electricity in the event of a prolonged absence of household members;
  • Maintain different temperatures and humidity in different rooms;
    To reduce the temperature with a large crowd of people (for example, during a family celebration), etc.
  • Automatically start recording video when motion is detected indoors.
    Remotely open the door if the hosts came to the guests.

But the above scenarios can be performed by the Smart Home system. As you can see, each such scenario is designed to optimize the consumption of resources (gas or electricity) without human participation, as well as to increase comfort and safety. This example allows us to understand why the Smart House can bring additional costs to the owner, but on the contrary, additional savings.

And the most important advantage of modern systems is the “Smart Home” – a mobile application through which a person completely controls the situation in the house and on the home territory, remotely controls devices, receives instant notifications about unforeseen situations. The whole house is in the mobile phone.

It is important that the mobile applications used to manage systems be informative and intuitive. It is also important that the entire family can use the solution, using different smartphones to manage. The choice should be made in favor of applications that allow you to manage all the devices in the house, including voice. After all, the presence of additional consoles, wall panels and buttons for control – this, at least, is inconvenient.

How to achieve “smart economy” with the help of “Smart Home”

In order to save money in the pursuit of comfort, the intellectual automation system must be properly adjusted. The fact is that the “Smart House” system has functions that guarantee both comfort and economy.

Savings of resources are not only in their reasonable consumption. Using the system “Smart House” will avoid the risks of damage to property and ensure its safety. If, for example, the leakage of a crane can lead to the flooding of your apartment and the lower floors of the house, then a gas leak can lead to more serious consequences. To avoid these risks, you can use a water leakage sensor, and the system will automatically send a notification to your smartphone about the trouble. The smoke detector will notify you of smoke, the gas sensor indicates a gas leak. An opening sensor will tell you if a window or door has opened in the house and you will not worry and think that you forgot to close the window when you left home. To do this, it is enough to look at the status of the sensor – it is open or closed in the mobile application.

The sensor of water leakage works instantly in case of detection of a leak. This allows you to save on insurance and constantly be aware of the events happening in the house.

The gas leakage sensor will notify the user of a gas leak. He will send an instant message to the phone and turn on the siren, heard by the neighbors of the apartment building. This helps to prevent gas leakage and its consequences at an early stage.

Property risks exist both among apartment owners and their numerous neighbors, and the task of automation is to reduce these risks to a minimum.

The same goes for the CCTV system integrated into the Smart Home: if there is no one in the house, the PTZ camera may not keep a permanent record. Enable recording can still be the same motion sensor that responds to traffic. You can monitor the house remotely – at any time (for example, using a mobile application). It is important to note that a person can also control the local area through street cameras.

Data transmission standards and cost of system upgrading

It happens that by installing the system “Smart House”, a person eventually decides to expand the existing functionality. In this case, the following situation may arise: the data transfer standard on which new equipment operates (for example, control sensors) is not supported by the system center – the controller. This can lead to additional spending on the search for suitable and possibly more expensive equipment. Therefore, it is better to immediately purchase a controller that supports the most common data transmission standards. Modern manufacturers of equipment for “Smart Houses” are focused on supporting the following standards:

  1. Ethernet 10/100/1000 Mbit is a packet data standard designed for wired networks.
  2. Wi-Fi (802.11b / g / n) – a series of the most popular transmission standards – for those who prefer wireless communication with home electronics.
  3. Bluetooth LE is a wireless standard designed to interface small sensors with the control center. It features minimal power consumption and is suitable for devices that can work for a long time from one small battery.
  4. Z-Wave 869.0 MHz is a widespread wireless standard developed especially for automation systems of residential and commercial objects. It features low energy consumption and is used in conjunction with low-cost and energy-efficient electronics.

If your controller supports one or more of these technologies, you should not have any financial problems in the event of the Smart Home expansion and upgrade (it will not be difficult to pick the right sensor from an affordable price segment).

Correctly choosing the communication standard, you can get guaranteed savings on the purchase of components to the system. For example, installing a system that functions via wired communication channels will cost the user more. What is obvious, especially if you take into account the cost of cables and the cost of their installation. Modern home automation systems allow you to add many third-party devices.
